Marx, Salinger and Just a little Darwin

By Michael Montoya

Break the floor with a blunt defiance
You know it’s the last of a great alliance
As the concrete crumbles, and city tumbles…
Only a smile lingers on the lips of a masochist
Through the fall goes whatever once was
Through the air is the yell for “just because”
As the night shatters and stars scatter
Only a scar is left unsaid, on the dead.
Beg, borrow, and a Darwinist plan
All for not, just another martyrs stand.
As the finest fall to nothing at all
Only a light remains on the hearts consumed by
Fright.
Denial
Despair
Apathy
Repair
And you said it was all going to work out…
When you knew nothing about the word
“Doubt”
