Take a look at the More Activities information at the end of this page to read about some more of our planned hands-on and fun Academy learning experiences. Please refer to the Course Catalog for course descriptions and any prerequisite requirements. Catalog page numbers are listed along with classes in the tables below. (The Course Catalog is not available in electronic form yet, however you can get one from the Manzano Administration office.) Important Note: The 2005-2006 Course Catalog is due out soon. Please be aware that the courses listed below may be changing for the '05-'06 school year. No 12th grade MHOA classes are offered for this start-up year.

More ActivitiesMentorships lead to internships which lead to summer job opportunities and those are scheduled on a individual basis depending on what the student is interested in. Hands on and community service projects will be developed by teachers in the academy. Our plans are to include a disaster drill in coordination with APD, AFD, Lifeguard, Biohazard team, (maybe even Homeland defense). These fun and exciting drills will be in coordination with other MHS departments (such as performing arts) with students acting as the “victims." This is a great opportunity for MHOA to recruitment younger students from middle schools able to watch and learn from the “gallery.” Students will be the first responders and some will also be on a panel to plan and execute the event. We are also hoping to have study hall seminars in which the students will be able to listen to a lecture from a professional regarding the duties, education, pay, workplace, etc. of the professional and then have time to ask questions. |
