Manzano Parent AssociationMeetings are 6:00 P.M. the first Monday of each month in the Administrative Office Conference Room. However, the first meeting of the 2008-09 school year was held on Tuesday, September 2, due to the Labor Day Holiday. The next MPA meeting will be held on Monday, October 6. PurposeThe Manzano Parent Association facilitates communication between MHS families and their school. It provides a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and special concerns in a friendly, informal atmosphere. The Manzano Parent Association enhances a closer relationship between the home and the campus, strengthening the bond between teacher, student and family. In addition the association assists and supports student activities and school initiatives, including financial support and direct assistance. Projects/ActivitiesThe Manzano Parent Association publishes a quarterly Newsletter. The association invites parent volunteers to help Manzano High School in various school projects. These projects include morning office receptionists, bookroom helpers, campus improvement, legislative action, chaperones for dances, assistants for Career Day, Academic Awards Night, and Graduation. The MPA provides parent representation to the school Instructional Council (IC) and the Manzano Cluster Forum. It also provides parent representation to the East Region Citizens' Advisory Council (ERCAC) and APS District Committees. A teacher/staff appreciation committee was added last spring and was warmly received by Manzano's Staff. Funding/BudgetThe activities/projects of the MPA are funded solely from the dues paid by Manzano families. Membership is $10 per family with checks being made to payable to Manzano Parent Association.
