Parents' Guide to Manzano
In case you need to contact the school, a few guidelines will help
you get through to the right person. Attendance, discipline and counseling
are divided according to last name. When you call the office, you can get through
to the right place first time if you know the right extension.
Full details are given on the
Administration
page . The main switchboard number is 559-2200.

Attendance |
Students cannot learn unless they are in class. You should write an
excuse for each absence. At 5 absences, a yellow written
notification will be sent home with students; at 9 absences, a
red notification will be sent home. After 10 absences in one
semester, a student is at risk of being withdrawn from the class with a
loss of credit. Manzano has several ways of letting parents know when a
student has been absent from one or more classes, including recorded and
teacher phone calls. Be sure that you read and understand the attendance policy.

Discipline |
Administrators use a standardized set of discipline guidelines and
consequences. You should have received 'The
Purple Sheet' at registration, and it is reprinted in your student's
planner. Rules are in effect during school hours, transporting
between home and school, and during any school-related activity.
Please review the discipline guide with your student.

Dress code |
APS and Manzano High School dress codes basically prohibit any
attire that is distracting or provocative, that is meant to offend any
group, or that promotes unacceptable affiliation or behavior.
Consequences range from being sent to the Lion's Den until a parent
can bring a change of clothing to in-school suspension.

Computer use |
You and your child signed an Authorized User Policy before
registration that detailed acceptable use of Manzano's computer
resources. Violation of these rules may result in loss of computer
privilege, disciplinary action, and legal action.
