Making a course web page

Brick by Brick. Web pages are a great way to reach outside your classroom to connect with people and resources around the globe. There are many good reasons to build class web pages, including, introducing visitors to activities, linking to quality online resources, publishing student work, and sharing local curriculum and information. Thousands of teachers around the world have developed websites. This easy-to-use website explores some of these websites and examines how these educators are using their pages to support teaching and learning. The website also links to numerous free web hosting services for teachers.

AOL@School is an Internet database and search engine that has portals designed for elementary, middle and high school levels. You can make a class page with a calendar, email, and gradebook. See Ellen Loehman to get a free account for you OR your students. free

Highwired.com is a collection of online publishing tools specifically geared for high schools. You can publish a newspaper, build a reference site or a class page. There are simple templates for the technologically challenged among you. free

Quia offers an interesting possibility: make a web page and interactive on-line quizzes that require no knowledge of java or any programming language. Or you can use quizzes that other teachers (better paid, less stressed) have made. free
