Read the Letter to AP Students and Parents Here

Dear Manzano Students and Parents:

Advanced Placement (AP) exams, though not a graduation requirement, are a great way to save money on college. Taking and passing these exams can allow students to earn credit for initial core college classes--such as entry level English (e.g., English 101). However, AP exams are not free, but this year Manzano will be providing all students who register with a fee-waiver, but there are still fees involved that all students may need to pay. Below is the fee structure for AP exams for the 2023-2024 school year.

Exam cost:

Manzano HS has secured a subsidy that reduces the cost of exams from $97 to $3 for all students for May 2025. All students will be required to submit an up-front minimum payment of $40 per exam. Payment in full is due by the applicable deadline.

If the student is confirmed to have taken the exam in May, the subsidy will be activated and an automatic refund of $37 per exam will be issued in June from APTS and will be mailed to the registered student address.

  • Late exam activation and registration will pay $43 and no refund is then possible.

  • No new exam orders will be activated after TBD.

  • Deadline: TBD for fall and yearlong course exam registration

  • Deadline: TBD for AP Macroeconomics

Late registration fee:

  • $40 (All students must pay this fee if they register after deadline)

No show/Cancel fee:

  • Students who cancel will forfeit the $40 fee paid for the exam since a $40 per exam cancellation fee is charged by College Board. No refund will therefore be issued for cancellations or no shows.

Please keep in mind, when these fees are assessed, they will be added to the student’s school account.  To register for an AP exam, please follow these steps outlined on https://aptsusa.com/manzano/ap/.  Click on the “Submit AP Exam Fees” at the bottom of the link to submit payment.
